I will be working with a group of H.S. students in a juvenile detention center.  Any method book suggestions?  I was leaning toward Hal Leonard's complete edition, or Alfred's Guitar101.  I really like H.O.T., but not sure if it is appropriate for a less "formal" classroom.

You should use an assortment of books if possible! One method doesn't cover everything and if you're worried about formality, having a 2 - 3 methods from which to choose will help you to curate the offering more effectively.

How often and for how long (each class) will you be working with these students? Will they be able to practice on guitar between seeing you? You want it to be a positive experience for the students.
